Se a imoralidade do racionamento da vacina não o incomoda,
o grave perigo que isso representa para o mundo deveria incomodar.

O que é necessário para VOW?

Se quisermos livrar o mundo da COVID-19, devemos nos COMPROMETER em vacinar nosso mundo agora. Podemos fazer isso ao:

  • Levantar 100 bilhões de dólares – o suficiente para garantir doses suficientes para Vacinar o Nosso Mundo agora.
  • Adquirir 7 bilhões de vacinas para a COVID-19 em um ano, para todas as pessoas cidadãos do mundo, especialmente para as que estão pessoas em países em desenvolvimento.
  • Renunciar ou suspender todas as patentes da vacina da COVID-19 durante a emergência global de saúde pública.
  • Eliminar todas as restrições sobre o compartilhamento de informações e dados – é necessário 100% de transparência.
  • Promover a cooperação internacional, e não a política de interesses, como força motriz para acabar com a pandemia.

Se quisermos garantir a equidade de vacinas, o mundo deve:

$ 100 bilhões de dólares devem ser assegurados para garantir vacinas suficientes para inocular vacinar o mundo inteiro. Os líderes do G20 e de instituições financeiras globais, como o Fundo Monetário Internacional e o Banco Mundial, devem se COMPROMETER em aumentar suas contribuições imediatamente.

Mesmo com a produção atual de vacinas atingindo níveis máximos, os fabricantes de vacinas ainda são incapazes de atender à demanda por doses que salvam vidas da COVID-19. Se o mundo deseja combater esta e as futuras pandemias, a produção de vacinas deve ser aumentada em todos os continentes. Simplesmente não é possível confiar em um pequeno grupo punhado de empresas farmacêuticas para vacinar o mundo inteiro.

As vacinas para a COVID-19 são financiadas principalmente pelos contribuintes - não pelas empresas farmacêuticas. Devemos demandar que todos os fabricantes de vacinas que compartilhem abertamente sua tecnologia e propriedade intelectual – e para que os governos garantam que as vacinas para a COVID-19 sejam declaradas um bem público. Podemos olhar para exemplos anteriores, como na epidemia de AIDS, e salvar o mundo como fizemos com os medicamentos antirretrovirais para o HIV.

Devemos defender um mandato obrigatório para garantir transparência e responsabilidade para todos os países e organizações quando se trata de saúde pública global.

A maior parte das aquisições de vacinas foi realizada por meio de acordos a portas fechadas individualmente entre governos sobre os detalhes dos acordos, o que aumenta os custos das vacinas. Durante esta e qualquer pandemia, todos os acordos de vacinas devem ser tornados públicos para incentivar uma maior cooperação e garantir que todos os países tenham acesso a medicamentos e vacinas a preços acessíveis.

Muitas nações, incluindo Canadá, EUA, Reino Unido e a União Europeia, compraram vacinas suficientes para vacinar suas populações várias vezes. Com uma escassez mundial, esses países devem ser pressionados a compartilhar seus estoques excedentes de vacinas. Em um momento em que a maioria do mundo tem pouco acesso às vacinas, as nações devem estabelecer uma estrutura para garantir que o resto do mundo também possa ser protegido. Se um país não está seguro da COVID-19, nenhum de nós está seguro também.

Mais da metade da população dos países de alta renda recebeu pelo menos uma dose de vacina para COVID-19 – em comparação com cerca de 30% nos países de renda média-alta, 14% em países de renda média-baixa e 1% em países de baixa renda.
